Larry Downing Obituary
Larry was born on December 3rd, 1959 in North Kansas City Hospital. He graduated from Park Hill High school in 1978 and went on to become a successful business owner for 15 plus years in the Telecommunications Industry, leading innovation and change in construction and engineering techniques. His work also took him abroad to several Central and South American Countries to build their cellular networks and infrastructure. Larry loved the KC Chiefs and Royals, enjoyed spending time golfing, reading and fishing. He also loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, supporting them in their hobbies and activities. Larry Downing was a generous and kind man, giving freely of his time and resources.
He was preceded in death by his parents Margy and Oliver Downing, his sisters Ruby Sorrell, Susan Downing, Holly Downing, and Lisa (Ron) Gay.
He is survived by his brother Hugh (Patti) Downing; his son Richard Downing and grandson Vincent; his son Dustin (Joanna) Downing and grandchildren Carter, Abbie, and Jacob; Mindy (Derek) Doubrava and family; and Jeremy Coronado and family. He is also survived by his many nieces, nephews, close friends and extended family.

Larry graduated with my brother Jim and they were good friends in High School. I would see Larry often back then. Came up to Parkville Heights from downtown Parkville to play football behind Jenkins House with the Heese's, Higgins, Jenkins, and Nelsons. Some of those games got pretty rough, but we were all pretty rough kids back then. A good friend of the family. I see after the services going to meet at Ryan's Pizza Shoppe. That was the only place to eat way back then when we were kids. R.I.P. Larry

I went to Park Hill with Larry, we both played football, he was the defensive end rusher because of his speed and size, I was the linebacker on his flank. A funny gentle giant on and off the field. I am very sorry to hear of your loss.
