Laura M. Denton, 79, of Texas City, Texas, peacefully passed away the evening of January 31, 2026. Services will be held at Royer's New Salem Funeral Home in Independence, MO, on Friday, February 13 th, with visitation at 2:00 p.m. and funeral at 3:00 p.m., followed by burial in New Salem Cemetery.

Laura was born March 16, 1946, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Betty Chaffee and Louis Roberts.

Laura lived a life of service, devotion, and love. She worked as a housekeeper in the refinery, where she was known for her strong work ethic and reliability. She later served as a Dairy Queen store manager, where her warm smile and leadership touched countless customers and employees alike. Beyond her professional life, Laura poured her heart into her family and community, proudly serving as a baseball team mom - cheering from the stands, organizing team events, and supporting young athletes with encouragement and care.

She embraced many meaningful roles - devoted wife, loved mother, cherished grandmother, loyal sister, trusted friend, and steady source of strength to many. Laura had a remarkable gift for making others feel welcomed, supported, and valued. Her kindness, generosity, and gentle spirit left an unforgettable mark on everyone who knew her.

She found joy in her grandchildren and family, as well as gardening, baking, sewing, photography, and helping others.

Laura was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William S. Denton Sr.; her daughter, Mary Elizabeth Fry; her sons, Louis and Donald Fry; her brothers, Lee and Roy Chaffee; and her grandson, Nathan Johnson.

She is survived by her children, Carol & John Musquiz and William S. Denton Jr. of Texas City, Texas; William A. Denton of Humble, Texas; Tammy and Tim Woods of Bolivar, Missouri; and Sheryl Johnson of Dallas, Texas; her sisters, Lena and Patrick Heiser, Carol Roudriquez, and Barbara and Richard Fox; her brother, Larry and Jacquelyn Chaffee; her In-laws, Shirley Moore, Chester Denton, Roger and Julie Denton and her dear friend, Lee Theiler, of Dickinson, Texas; and her 19 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
