It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Larry James Gallien, aged 70, who departed this life on Monday, August 4, 2025.

Larry James Gallien was born on September 13, 1954, in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Larry was a proud graduate of Washington High School in 1974 and had dreams of walking the campus of McNeese State University. Throughout the years, Larry lived a life marked by deep love for family, a strong work ethic, and an inviting sense of humor that touched everyone who knew him.

Earlier in life, Larry married Verna Mae Levier of Lake Charles, Louisiana. And from this union they shared one daughter together, Dr. Theresa-Marie (Derick) Hardy, and Larry gained two bonus children: Deatra Levier-Joseph and Joseph Gallien Sr. Throughout the years, Larry and Verna's bond remained one of mutual respect and care for the family they created together.

He was preceded in death by his beloved common-law wife, Judy Lewis, with whom he met later in life and shared many wonderful years. Together, they built a life filled with love, companionship, and shared memories. The couple shared one son, Joshua Larry Gallien and Larry also gained four bonus children: Aquilina Sharp, Swan Holloway, Wilford Goodwin, and Phebe (Eliasaph) Israel.

Larry was a devoted father, grandfather, and friend. He leaves behind 11 grandchildren that brought immense joy to his life: Brittany Hardy, Brennan Hardy, Braylon Hardy, Jasmine Hasty, Joseph Gallien Jr., Rishard Nolan, Malik Nolan, Kennan Goodwin, David Williams, Ar'Mya Davis, and Madison Croskey. And was preceded in life by Andrew Moore Jr., Jamal Moore, Richard Nolan and Jasmine Goodwin.

He is survived by his siblings: Earline Hawkins, Joseph Guillory, and Ricky Gallien (Lake Charles, Louisiana), and Michael (Betty) Gallien (Mamou, Louisiana), with whom he shared a lifetime of memories, laughter, and support. Their bond remained strong throughout the years. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Rita Gallien Guillory, and his brother Rellis (Junior) Toussaint. Larry leaves behind a host of other family members and friends, all of whom he held close to his heart and remained in constant contact with throughout his life.

Larry James Gallien will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for his kindness, sense of humor, and the countless lives he touched with his "southern charm", and "generous spirit".
