Larry Dee Grimes, 84, of Anderson, went to his heavenly home on October 24, 2025 at Northview Health and Living Center, Anderson, IN. He was born on July 13, 1941 in Noblesville, Indiana, the son of Bradley and Berniece (VanMeter) Grimes and resided most of his life in the Pendleton and Anderson area.
Larry graduated from Walnut Grove High School, Class of 1960, and later married the love of his life, Mary (Thompson) Grimes on August 12, 1961 in Danville, IL; she still survives. Larry retired from General Motors in 1999, after 35 years of service. He was very involved in the Agapeland Express Puppet Ministry. He enjoyed leather and woodworking, building clocks, and he was known as a "Professional Tinkerer." Larry was a member of the Pendleton Lion's Club (1973-1985) and served as the Chairman of the June Jamboree and President.
Larry is survived by his loving spouse of 64 years, Mary; his children, Shelly (Rob) Sparks, Cathy (Doug) Gann, Dustin (Whitney) Grimes, Jama (Tony) Smith; his grandchildren, Jonathan (Kim) Sparks, Kristin (Karl) Mitcham, Joshua Mills, Bethany Mills, Sharayah (Kyle) Gifford, Ryker Grimes, Maggie Grimes, Caden Smith, Liam Smith, Everly Smith; and several great-grandchildren; his sisters, Carolyn Jean Blazier
and Charlotte Ridgeway; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jeff Grimes; sister, Teresa Harkness; and daughter, Melisa Grimes.
Visitation will be held at Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, Anderson, Indiana, on Sunday, November 2, 2025 at 2:00 PM until time of service. Memorial services will be on Sunday, November 2, 2025 at 3:00 PM at the Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory with Pastor Rob Mifflin officiating.
Cremation will take place at Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, Anderson, IN.
