Larry F. Gulnac, age 75, of Erie passed away Tuesday, April 19th, 2022, at St. Vincent Hospital after an extended illness. Born November 30, 1946, in Erie he was the son of the late Raleigh and Jessie (Hardesty) Gulnac.
Larry trained and worked at St. Vincent Hospital, where he met and married his soulmate, Maureen. He served his country in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War as a medic and x-ray tech with the 199th. Upon return to the "world" he began work in the X-Ray and Nuclear Med Departments of Doctors Osteopathic Hospital until its closing. He then went to work for Glitch Field Services in X-Ray and Ultrasound, before moving onto Chuck's business, Atkinson Refractory Supply and Millcreek Community Hospital was his last place of employment, working there for ten years, before his retirement in 2010.
He appreciated all types of music, but the Rolling Stones were special, and he was so excited that, with help, he was able to attend their concert in Pittsburgh.
He was proud to be an American and a Veteran and belonged to the American Legion, Carl Neff Post in Wesleyville, as did his father before him. Fishing and bird watching and keeping his many feeders full were what he loved to do as well as long lazy rides with Maureen on the peninsula, stopping at Sara's for a footlong. He so, looked forward to his Sunday evening call from his cousin Ed Gulnac. Larry's smile and laugh will always be fondly remembered.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Larry Jr. in 1989 and his father-in-law, Gerald P. McCallion in 2006.
Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Maureen (McCallion) Gulnac; his daughter, Dawn M. Gulnac (Dennis Babo); his beloved grandson, Cory S. Gulnac; his two sisters, Janet Gulnac (Chuck Reichard) and Linda Swigonski (Alan); mother-in-law, Josephine McCallion; a sister-in-law, Mary "Mert" Filby; and two brothers-in-law, Jerry, and John McCallion. Nieces and nephew and cousins also survive. His family members were his treasures in life. He was a rich man.
Services were private with family including burial at Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery. Arrangements were handled by Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 West 38th St.
Memorials may be made to the Veterans Miracle Center, 1573 West 39th St., Erie, PA 16509. Condolences may be sent at www.bruggerfuneralhomes.com.

Praying for peace and comfort for the family. Mr. Gulnac was a wonderful man and as one of the neighborhood kids lucky enough to be friends with both Dawn and Larry I got to spend much time with the Gulnac family. My favorite Mr. G. Dad joke was every time you excused yourself to use the restroom at their house he would say, "Leave a quarter!" He was a kind man, a devoted husband, and a loving dad to his own kids and to the rest of us who always found ourselves hanging out there! Mr. G. always had a twinkle in his eye ready for the next silly dad joke! Hugs to Dawn and Mrs. Gulnac!

To Maureen, Linda, Al and family,

Speaking for myself and Larry's Academy High School Classmates, we are deeply saddened over his passing. Larry was a fun guy and good classmate who was liked by all, and he has left us with many fond memories. Although Larry is no longer with us, he will always be a part of us, and we will keep him alive in our hearts and memories. Our deepest sympathy is extended to all of you.

Sincerely,

Chuck Pora and classmates of the Academy High School Class of 1964
