John Hromyak Obituary

John Hromyak, 74, of Erie, passed away on Sunday, November 2, at St. Vincent Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Berea, Ohio, on March 27, 1951, he was the son of the late John Hromyak and Elizabeth "Welsh" Hromyak. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Suzanne Hromyak.

John was a proud graduate of McDowell High School, where he excelled both on the football field and the wrestling mat. His dedication to athletics earned him a wrestling scholarship to the University of Pittsburgh, and later completed his degree at Gannon University.

He devoted his career to the Erie Diocesan Cemeteries, where he served faithfully for 52 years, ultimately as General Manager. His commitment, integrity, and compassion touched countless families and colleagues throughout his decades of service. John was also a dedicated member of St. Patrick's Parish, where his faith was an important part of his life.

Outside of work, John found joy in the simple pleasures of life-listening to his favorite Jimmy Buffett songs, cheering on the Cleveland Browns and Indians, and sharing laughter and stories with friends and family. Above all, John's greatest pride and joy was his family. He treasured every moment spent with them, especially his three beloved grandchildren, who were the light of his life.

John is survived by his wife of 49 years, Deborah A. (Romecki) Hromyak; his son Michael J. Hromyak and his wife Kristen (Thayer) Hromyak of Cleveland, Ohio; his cherished grandchildren Kennedy, Michael II, and Henry; his sister Mary (Hromyak) Gamble and her husband Sam Gamble; and many nieces and nephews.

John's warmth, humor, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Friends may call on Sunday at the Kloecker Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc from 3 pm until 7 pm and are invited to the Funeral Mass on Monday at St. Patrick Church at 10 am. Send condolences to www.kloeckerfuneralhome.com

Entombment will be at Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial contributions to the Julie Billiart School in Brecksville, Ohio, in honor of his memory and in recognition of his beloved grandson, Michael II.
