Larry Dale Hamm, age 68 of Waverly, TN passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at his home surrounded by his boys, who he was so proud of their accomplishments, and his loving wife. He was born on February 22, 1956, in Waverly, TN to the late Laura Browning Hamm and James Irvin Hamm. Larry dedicated 19 years of his life to serving as a police officer, embodying the values of hard work and commitment to his community. His dedication to law enforcement was a source of pride for him, as he consistently sought to make Waverly, TN and Covington, TN a safer place for its residents. Beyond his professional life, Larry was deeply passionate about the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding horses, and coaching his son’s baseball team for several years. Also a devoted NASCAR fan, he spent many weekends cheering for his favorite drivers, especially Mark Martin. Larry's proudest accomplishments were centered around his family. He cherished the moments spent with his loved ones, especially his grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his life. Larry will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandaddy, brother, uncle and friend.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 39 years, Tammy Kaye Hamm, of Waverly, TN; sons, Chris Hamm (Stephanie) of Culleoka, TN, Dr. Corey Hamm (Dr. Jessica) of Somerset, KY, Jacob Hamm of Murray, KY and Devin Hamm (Malena) of Waverly, TN; 8 grandchildren, brother, Jimmy Hamm (Betty Ann); sister, Betty Jo Palk (Ted); and several nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, Larry is preceded in death by his daughter, Emily Michelle Hamm; brothers, Jerry Wayne Hamm and Terry Lynn Hamm (T-Boy); sister, Martha Jane Hamm; niece, Debbie Hunt; maternal grandmother, Minnie Browning; maternal grandfather, Doc Browning; paternal grandmother, Jannette Elliot Ham; paternal grandfather, Irvin Ham and mother-in-law, Kay Garber.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 beginning at 12:00 P.M. until the time of service at 3:00 P.M. at Luff-Bowen Funeral Home in Waverly. The interment will take place at McKelvy Cemetery in Waverly, TN.
Arrangements are entrusted to Luff-Bowen Funeral Home.
