Mr. Larry Eugene Harbin, 77, of Winston-Salem, passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2026. Larry was born in Forsyth County on September 5, 1948, to the late Walter Russell Harbin and Thelma Burke Harbin.
Larry graduated from West Forsyth High School in 1966. Following high school, Larry attended Officer Candidate School and graduated as a Second Lieutenant. He was a Vietnam War veteran, serving in the U.S. Army from 1968 until his honorable discharge in 1974, and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal
Larry spent his working career as an optician at several companies including The S. Galeski Optical Company, Accent Optical, and National Vision, Inc. He was a devoted member of Bethesda Moravian Church where he held several positions. Larry enjoyed many hobbies including golf and fly-fishing. He was also a proud Life Ranking Boy Scout.
In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 39 years, Dianne Woodruff Harbin. He is survived by his children, Laura Harbin Stern (Brian) of Raleigh, NC and John Russell Harbin of Asheville, NC; grandchildren, Grayson and William Stern; brother, Garry Harbin (Kathy) of Winston-Salem, NC; and sister, Linda Hurst (Wayne) of Colorado.
