Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home Silas Creek Chapel - Winston-SalemRobert “Scott” Griffin, 63, of Advance, NC passed away on February 2, 2026.
Scott was born on August 19, 1962, in Charlotte, NC to Cecil Reid Griffin and Barbara Cullingford Griffin. He attended West Forsyth High School in Clemmons, NC and graduated from Lees-McRae College in Banner Elk, NC. He was employed as a groundskeeper at Old Town Club, a prestigious private golf club in Winston-Salem, NC.
Scott was a man who found his greatest peace outdoors under the open sky. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed golf, fishing and hunting. Whether he was chasing the perfect round of golf on the golf course, waiting for the perfect catch or tracking game through the quiet woods, Scott lived for the opportunity of adventure. He didn't just explore and observe nature; he captured its soul through his photography. Whenever he visited family on the South Carolina coast, Scott regularly enjoyed rising early enough to capture the sunrise at Breach Inlet. He leaves behind a visual legacy of sunrises, landscapes and wildlife.
Known for his quiet strength and gentle nature, Scott was a dedicated son, brother and loyal friend who could be counted on for a good story or tips on golf, fishing, hunting or photography. Scott had a wide range of interests and was happy to share his thoughts and opinions on just about anything.
He was preceded in death by his father, Cecil Reid Griffin; and half-brother, Earl E. "Chuck" Davis, Jr.
Surviving family includes his mother, Barbara C. Griffin; his sister, Robie Griffin Chapman and her husband, John A. "Chappy" Chapman, Jr.; his nephew, Christopher "Chris" Reid Chapman and his wife, Jaclyn Adair Chapman and their son, Scott’s grandnephew, Crawford John Chapman.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. A reception will immediately follow the service in the Robert F. Miller Center at Hayworth-Miller.
