Larry was born on August 3, 1945, in Paris, KY, to parents John L. Harris and Jo Emma Summers Harris. He grew up in a bustling household, teeming with energy and affection from his siblings.

A proud graduate of Western High School in Paris, KY, Larry's dedication to his community began early. After completing his education in 1963, he embarked on a commendable career that included a tenure at Dura-Weaver Corporation and Hinkle Construction. His commitment to service was further exemplified during his time as a member of the US Army, where he defended his country with honor and valor.

Known for his unique nicknames and humorous sayings, Larry's sparkling wit and amiable spirit brought laughter and light into the lives of all who knew him.

Larry's legacy is lovingly carried on by his beloved wife of 56 years, Donna Jean Asher Harris, including children Larry (Tracci Frederick) Harris, Jr., Dawn Nicole Harris, Hamza (Mae Jo Mastin) Malik, Rachelle Myers, and his eight grandchildren, Tiara (Michael) Cole, Joshua Harris, Evander (Olivia) Harris, Hope Jolley, Faith Jolley, Khatirah Malik, Kedar Malik, Elizabeth Nicole Myers and three great-grandchildren, Oliver Harris, Kairi Cole and Amira Malik who brought him immense joy and pride. Also left to cherish his memory are his caring sisters, Nora Harris and Laraine Harris, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, John L. Harris and Jo Emma Summers Harris, his son Larry Dewayne Franklin, and his siblings, Harry Harris, John L. Harris, Don E. Harris, Ruth Mack, Ada Gaines, and Betty Tucker.

Described by many as funny, faith-filled, and friendly, Larry's impact on his community and loved ones was profound and will resonate for generations to come. His guidance, kindness, and the enduring warmth of his personality will forever echo in the spaces he graced and in the hearts of those he touched.
