Larry Wayne Hidbrader, a cherished loved one known for his warm smile and unyielding dedication, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2024, at the age of 78.
Born on June 21, 1946, in Evansville, Indiana, Larry's life was a symphony of service, love, and music, leaving an indelible mark on everyone he met.
Larry's journey began in the heartland of Indiana, where he developed a deep-seated loyalty to family and country-qualities that beautifully colored his character. He proudly served his nation in the United States Navy from 1965 to 1969, building a strong foundation of honor and friendship that lasted a lifetime as a Vietnam veteran. After his service, Larry continued his pursuits working at General Electric, Nix Motor Sales, and with the Kenny Kent Autos family, forging connections and touching lives with his genuine warmth and approachability.
Music was another of Larry's great loves, and he found joy performing with his bandmates, where his melodious voice and charismatic presence united people in laughter and happiness. He was a sociable man, never far from a group of companions, be it through his participation in the American Legion Post 44 in Newburgh, Indiana, or simple gatherings with friends and family.
Family was at the heart of Larry's very being. He is survived by his loving sons: Robert Hidbrader and Asa Hidbrader (Shelley); brother: Owen Hidbrader; grandchildren: Kelcey Hidbrader, Amanda Falk (Zachary), Haley Oler (Hunter), Emma Hidbrader and Kelly Hidbrader; great grandchildren: Harper James Houck & Kanan Oler along with a nephew Jon Hidbrader.
Although Larry has been preceded in passing by those he deeply cherished, including his father: Merle Mott Hidbrader; mother: Norma Pearl (Wasson) Hidbrader; wife: Rebecca (Cotney) Hidbrader and great granddaughter: Adeline Grace, he leaves behind a legacy of love and service. With deep appreciation and pride, his family will carry forward the shared memories and connections that bound them.
The Hidbrader family invites friends and loved ones to join them in celebrating Larry's remarkable life from 10 a.m. until service time at 1 p.m., Friday, December 6, 2024, at the Werry Funeral Home in Poseyville, Indiana with burial in Laurel Hill Cemetery near Wadesville, Indiana.
As Larry was not one to let life pass without celebration, the family will gather after services at the Silver Bell Restaurant near Wadesville, Indiana and welcomes all who would like to join.
For continued service to his country and fellow veterans, the family requests in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: DAV – Disabled American Veterans, PO Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301, or online at: https://support.dav.org/campaign/in-memory-of-LarryHidbrader, which provides support and crucial services to over 1 million veterans and their families each year.

December 6, 2024

We bought cars from Larry since 1980. He helped get us cars for our 4 teenagers. He became a friend. We loved his willingness to laugh and fun loving ways. When he retired and moved south, we missed him and spoke with him frequently. We´ll miss you our dear friend. Turk and Beverly Walton
