Larry Wayne Janski, 72, loving husband, father and grandfather passed away surrounded by family on January 20, 2020 after battling Lewy Body Dementia for the last six years.
Larry was born in Little Rock, Arkansas and grew up in Memphis, Tennessee. He loved the Lord from an early age and always had a Bible in the night stand next to his bed. He spent his childhood riding bikes and playing baseball with friends. Above all else, he was humble, kind and generous.
He graduated from Kingsbury High School in 1965 and attended the University of Tennessee. He graduated in 1970 with a degree in Aerospace Engineering. Upon graduation, he was commissioned into the United States Army where he served his country for the next six years. While stationed in El Paso, Texas he received his MBA and met the love of his life, Sarah. They were married January 21, 1978 and spent the next 42 years creating beautiful memories.
After being honorably discharged as a Captain from the U.S. Army in 1978, he was employed by Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co. at the Newport, Rhode Island field site. After moving to Washington, D.C. in 1981, Peat Marwick merged with KPMG. After 23 years, Larry retired as a partner from KPMG Consulting. He continued his career with BearingPoint and then ended his more than thirty-five years of consulting with Deloitte. He was passionate about his work, mentoring the next generation and helping others.
Larry loved the outdoors. He coached girls' softball for more than twenty years and spent the best times of his life at the "Lake House". Whether he was driving the pontoon boat or fishing off the dock, above all else, he treasured time with his family and friends. He lived his life with grace and compassion and courageously fought this horrible disease until the end.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sarah Janski; his daughter, Kristen Charbonneau (Jeremy); grandchildren: Landon Scott Charbonneau and Ava Blair Charbonneau.
Funeral services will be conducted by Reverend Mike Shelton on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at the Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens at 12:00 noon. Visitation will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday and burial will follow the service. The family hopes that you will join them for a celebration of Larry's life at the Harpeth Pavilion immediately after the burial.
The family is grateful for the compassionate care provided by the staff of NHC The Trace, Caris Healthcare, and Olga Beam. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association @lbda.org.
