Larry L. Kohlmeyer

Larry L. Kohlmeyer, 85, of Avoca died peacefully on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 at the Richland Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born on December 17, 1939, the son of Garnet and Jean Kohlmeyer. Larry went to school at Avoca Rural School and graduated in 1959. After high school Larry enrolled in an apprenticeship program with the IBEW and became an apprentice lineman and went to work for Hooper Construction Corporation in Madison for 41 years as an electrical lineman working his way up to Foreman.
Larry was united in marriage to Joyce Marshall on May 5, 1961 and together they had two daughters Joy and Jill. Larry enjoyed hunting and fishing. He had taken numerous trips yearly to Canada and Colorado. He enjoyed tying his own fishing lures and loading his own shells. Larry was on the Avoca Fire Department for many years. He also drove ski boats for the Avoca Aquanauts Ski Club. Larry had a name change in 1981, he was then known to us as 'Bumpy' as named by his first grandchild. His grandchildren were his world. Bumpy also had another love besides Joyce, actually three sheltie's all named Missy. Why change the name of your little dogs.
Larry is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years Joyce;
Two Daughters Joy (Brad) Bird of Avoca,
Jill Harris of Muscoda;
Stepson Mark Recob of California;
Grandchildren: Charity, Christian, Cassandra, Dustin, Savannah, Jordan;
Great grandchildren: Taylor, Kynzie, Sage, Wren, Arden, Lydia, Baelynn, Henry, Leelan, Quinn;
Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents Garnet and Jean, brothers: Gary, Charles, and Jack and sister Judy.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at 3:00 PM at the Pratt Funeral Home, Muscoda. Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at the Pratt Funeral Home, Muscoda from 1:00 PM until the time of the service at 3:00 PM. The family suggests memorials in Larry's name be directed to the Avoca Fire and Rescue. The Pratt Funeral and Cremation Service is assisting the family with their arrangements.
