Larry L. Lain, 67, of Oquawka, IL, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at his home.
Larry was born February 12, 1957 in Oregon, IL, the son of Laverne M. “Mike” and Darlene A. (Ash) Lain. He was raised and educated in Henderson County and attended Union High School.
Larry married Nancy Kulp and later married Cheryl Bundy on November 4, 1988 in Burlington, IA and She survives.
Larry worked at International Harvester, the Burlington Basket Factory, Carner Farms, Butlers in Galesburg, Case IH, and most recently Hillyard Trucking. He enjoyed working on and collecting classic cars, attending car shows. Most of all, Larry loved spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Cheryl Lain of Oquawka, IL; Son, Roger (Lori) Brockett of Burlington, IA; daughter, Billie Jo (Chad Ferguson) Lambertsen of Gladstone, IL; sons, Mike (Heather) Lain of Oquawka, IL, Shawn (Tianna) Lain of Oquawka, IL; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren; his sisters, Veronica Johnston and Arlene Kallenbach; brother, Laverne Lain; and his lifelong sidekicks, Bob Agans and Jack Pruett.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and son, Jerimy Brockett.
A Celebration of Life will be at Noon, Saturday, May 4, 2024 at Mama’s Place (1002 North 7th St., Oquawka, IL 61469) Please bring your classic car or motorcycle to celebrate Larry’s life and love of cars. Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorials can be made to the Henderson County Humane Society or the Des Moines Humane Society. McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL, is in charge of the arrangements.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
