McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory - MonmouthRuby L Bishop,96, of Galesburg, IL, formerly of Canton, Lewistown, and Kirkwood, IL, passed away at 5:03 am, Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at Seminary Manor, Galesburg.
Ruby was born October 21, 1928, in Cuba, IL, the daughter of Claude and Cora (Agnew) Hopkins. She was raised and educated in Cuba graduating from Cuba High School in 1947.
She married Leland “Doc” Bishop on June 21, 1947, in Rushville, IL. He preceded her in death on March 11, 2011.
Ruby was a homemaker. She enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, Kirkwood Senior Citizens and the Westminster Presbyterian Church of Kirkwood.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda (Chuck) Michael of Monmouth, IL; her son, Andy (Kay) Bishop of DuQuoin, IL; grandchildren, Carey Aten, Corey (Molly) Aten, Dustin Bishop, Makaela King, Lucas (Kristen) Michael, Melanie (Adam) Jenkins, Clinton (Sarah) Smith; 12 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandsons; daughter-in-law, Sueanne Bishop of Boynton Beach, FL; brother, Tom Hopkins of Girard, IL; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, her son, Gary Bishop; 6 brothers and 4 sisters.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 am, Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth. Interment will be at Maryville Cemetery, Bryant, IL. Visitation will be prior to the services Wednesday morning from 10:00-11:00 am at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Westminster Presbyterian Church, Kirkwood.
