Larry Gene Larson, 86, of Inman, KS, passed away Sunday, December 1, 2024 at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson, Ks.
Larry was born in McPherson, Kansas on November 14, 1938, a son of Clarence O. Larson and Dorotha Mae (Hibler) Larson-Wendt.
Larry attended Groveland Country School and graduated from McPherson High School, McPherson, Kansas in 1956.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he served as president twice during his 12 years of church counsel service.
Through the years Larry worked as a cook and worked in the drive up at the Wishbone Cafe, was a mechanic for the Ford Garage in McPherson, service station worker for the Shell Station in Chicago, Illinois, drove a reddimix truck and worked in the burial vault division of McPherson Concrete Products, worked for Treco in construction at N.C.R.A., worked for the Paper Mill in Hutchinson, Kansas, worked for Hopkins Floor covering and Reggies Floor covering, and owned and operated Larson floor covering since 1969 until his health would not permit him to work. He retired in Feb. of 2017.
Larry was a member of the City Council of Inman for 8 years.
Larry enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, spending time with his family
Larry G. Larson was united in marriage to Linda Louise Etheridge on June 10, 1957 at Hominey, Oklahoma. The young couple established their first home together in McPherson, Kansas. The family moved around in McPherson County until August of 1968 when they made the move to Inman, Kansas..
He is survived by his wife, Linda Larson, of Inman, Kansas; his son, Lyle Larson(Karyn), of Inman, Kansas, son in law, Craig Allison, of McPherson, Kansas and his sister Barbara Becker(Richard), of Pratt, Kansas. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Lynsi Giles (Josh), Trevor Larson, Brandi Golemon (Bryan), Jennifer Allison and Jarod Allison and 6 great-grandchildren, Jaylee Giles, Adyson "Ady" Giles, Jaxzen Giles, Remi Golemon, Kourtney Golemon and Kinsley Golemon.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Wayne Larson and daughter, Lena Allison.
A Graveside Service will be held on December 20, 2024 at 2:30 pm at McPherson Cemetery in McPherson, KS. with Pastor Lynn Scott officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community or the American Red Cross and they can be sent to Glidden-Ediger-Wiggins Funeral Home,222 W. Euclid, McPherson, KS. 67460..
