Larry Robert Lashbrook, 78, passed away unexpectedly at 9:00am, Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville, Illinois. Larry was born on July 11, 1944, in Macomb, Illinois to J. Robert and Edna Mae (Abbott) Lashbrook. He married Nancy Morrell on December 11, 1964, at the First United Methodist Church in Rushville, and she survives.
In his early years, Larry worked for his uncle Dale Abbott as a mechanic and drove his milk route, worked for Raymond Constable as a mechanic at the Sinclair Station and also worked at the Tremont FS. Larry was drafted into the US Army in 1966 and served in Korea during his tour of duty, until 1968. Afterwards he worked a short time at Alexander Lumber, he then went to Kerr Hardware, where he worked for 45 years until his retirement. His customers and his friends were very special to him. Larry was also an avid motorcycle rider and he and Nancy enjoyed many trips throughout the US and Canada. He also enjoyed going to car shows and was a fan of NASCAR races.
He attended Houston Methodist Church and liked to listen to the online sermons of Pastor Jason Triplett at the Rushville Church of Christ. Larry loved to share his faith and wanted all his family and friends to know Jesus as their Savior.
Larry will be deeply missed by all his friends and dear family.
In addition to his wife, he is also survived by his brother Keith, (Barb) Lashbrook of Rushville, sister-in-law Joyce Prather of Rushville; and step sisters-in-law Joyce,(Royce) Headley of Macomb; and Nancy Toland of Rushville; his aunt Virginia Abbott of Glendale, Arizona; Nephews and nieces; Beth (Tom) Grover, Mike (Nancy) Hulvey, Matt (Lori) Prather, Kerry Prather, and Jenny Prather; great-nieces and great-nephews, Jadyn Lashbrook, Skylin Lashbrook, Taelyn Lashbrook, Adam (Cait) Hulvey, Kasey (Joe) Henricks, Zackary (Aubrey) McCombs, Austin (Sacha) Hulvey, Erin Herbster, Eric Prather, Cameron Hulvey, Tyler Grover, Jadyn Prather and Trace Prather; seven great-great-nieces and nephews, as well as several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and by his nephews; Darrick Lashbrook, and Doug Lashbrook; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Maynard, and Connie Hulvey; brother-in law Jim Prather; and great nephew Garrett Grover.
Funeral Services for Larry will be held at 10:30am, on Monday, March 27 2023 at the Triplett & Wood Funeral Home in Rushville. Pastor Dan Wise will officiate, and Pastor Jason Triplett will assist with the services. Visitation for Larry will take place between 5:00 and 7:00pm on Sunday, March 26, 2023, at Triplett & Wood Funeral Home in Rushville.
Interment will take place at Rushville City Cemetery immediately following the funeral service.
Military Rites will be accorded at the funeral home.
Memorials in Larry’s memory may be directed to the Houston Methodist Church, the Culbertson Memorial Hospital Foundation in Rushville, and to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
