Larry M. Letze, 63, of Runnells, Iowa passed away on July 18th, 2025.
Larry was born on August 19th, 1961 to Harley ("Jack") and Phyllis Letze in Des Moines, Iowa. He graduated from East High School in 1979. He recently retired from the Iowa Department of Transportation after 27 years. Larry took pride in maintaining the roads for public safety, especially in the winter time. He was a proud Iowan and Eastsider. He enjoyed golfing, hunting and going to the Iowa State Fair. Larry was a huge movie buff, he especially loved watching westerns and quoting from them. He enjoyed listening and singing along to country music. He was a good friend to many and considered his friends as his extended family, calling them his "brothers", until the day he passed.
Larry was a strong patriarch of his family. He was a wonderful father and grandfather who loved spending time with and taking care of his children and grandchildren. Left to cherish his memory is his devoted wife of 45 years, Julie Letze, his daughters: Stacey Letze, Stephanie Letze and Ashley (Aarron) Davis, his grandchildren: Haley & Chris Brown, Alexandria Letze, and Mackenzie & Kennedy Davis, his nephew Cory Letze, his beloved father Jack Letze, and his siblings Linda & Gary Letze. Larry is preceded in death by his mother Phyllis Letze and his sister Cindy Letze.
Per Larry's wishes, no services will be held because he "didn't want to throw a party he could not attend." To honor Larry's memory, every time you go to the Iowa State Fair, please enjoy a lemonade for him.
" you're a daisy if you do."
