Larry Wayne Long, 59, died peacefully at his home in Gaston on June 28, 2022.
Larry was born on February 1, 1963, in Muncie to Carl "Barney" and Doris Long. He was a 1981 graduate of Wes-Del High School. Larry had a long and successful career in tool & die making and engineering. He was an active member of the AMA in Muncie. He enjoyed building and flying RC airplanes, camping, fishing, snowmobiling, and spending time with his family.
Larry is survived by his son, Jared Long (wife Brianna); daughter, Janessa Ticen (husband Christopher), mother, Doris Long; brother, Chris R. Long (wife Leslie); brother-in-law, Tom McCarty (wife Mara); ten grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Larry was preceded in death by his father, Carl R. "Barney" Long; and sister, Kimberly Hope McCarty.
A funeral service to celebrate Larry's life will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at Gant Funeral Homes – Gaston Chapel, 109 W. Elm St. in Gaston. Pastor Michael Osborne will officiate. Burial will follow in Parkview Cemetery in Alexandria.
Friends and family may gather to share and remember from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm Tuesday, July 5, 2022, and one hour prior to the funeral on Wednesday, at Gant Funeral Homes – Gaston Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be given to a charity of the donor's choice in memory of Larry.
