Larry Magee Obituary
Larry James Magee (70) was welcomed through the gates of Heaven and into the arms of Jesus on October 1, 2025. Larry was born on March 21, 1955, in Sikeston, Missouri to Alfred and Gloretta Magee. Larry attended New Palestine High School and shortly after graduation, he began working at Shares Inc. in 1977, and retired in 2022, after working there for over 49 years.
Larry was known for his big smile and had a way of bringing joy into every room he entered. Larry received many medals and other awards for his commitment to playing in the Special Olympics of Indiana for many years. If you knew Larry, you knew his love for his hats and over the years he collected hundreds and maybe be close to 1000 hats.
Larry enjoyed fishing, watching wrestling, and going on many vacations with his family and his work friends. He also loved an occasional Nerf gun fight with his great nephews. To his friends and family, Larry was loyal and never forgot a stranger's face and always down for great conversations.
Larry will be deeply missed by his family, including his nieces and nephews, Danielle and Scott Potter, Justin and Bobbi-Jo Griffith, Crystal and Brian Morton, and Christina Farina. His aunts and uncles, Jeff and Bobby Davis, Donald and Marie Davis, Etzel and Dora Davis, and Irene and Dale Wilson. Great nieces and nephews, Kailynn, Mia, Ady, Gavin, Alex, and Elijah; and the countless friends and family whose lives were brighter because of him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Gloretta Magee; sisters, Gloria Griffith and Louise Hatfield; brother-in-law, Dennis Griffith; and many aunts and uncles.
The family would like to thank the amazing caregivers that helped take care of Larry over the years Shralonda, Christique, and Emmanuel, you have no idea how much you mean to our family, and we could not have done it without you. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Visitation for Larry will be held on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will follow at 5:00 p.m. Additional visitation will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at McMikle Funeral Home, 403 N. Kingshighway, Sikeston, MO 63801. A graveside service will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Dogwood Cemetery.
