Larry Ernest Malaise, 83, of Ottawa, passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Following his wishes, no services will be held. Cremation rites have been entrusted to Ottawa Funeral Home.

Larry was born April 1, 1942, in Ottawa, IL to Ernest and Evelyn (Holloway) Malaise. He married Christa Walleit on August 26, 1964 in Ottawa. He proudly served his country in the United States Army.

Larry loved cars. He enjoyed working on them, attending races, and overall anything to do with cars. He was an avid skydiver with over 200 jumps. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, especially their trips to Germany. He had a great sense of humor and was constantly joking with his family. Family was everything to him. He loved each and every one of his family members.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Christa; his daughter, Monica Davis; his grandchildren, John Davis, Tabitha (Arturo Sandoval) Davis and Heather (Shea) Jackson; his great grandchildren, Brooklynn Nagle, Camron Harvey, Dominick Sandoval, Carter Dodge, Skyler Davis, Shaylee Davis, Theo Jackson, Sander Jackson, and Hagen, Jackson; as well as one great great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Evelyn; and his brothers, Ronnie and Dale Malaise.

Memorials in his honor may be directed to his wife, Christa Malaise.
