Mr. Larry Richard McCraw, 79 of Mount Airy, passed away Monday morning, February 9, 2026, at Cedar Hills Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation. He was born in Surry County on March 28, 1946, to the late Jessie Godbey McCraw and Emaline Jeanette Greenwood McCraw. Larry proudly served our country in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He Joined September 3, 1968, and was discharged June 4, 1970, after serving one year in Vietnam from February 19, 1969, to February 18, 1970. Larry thoroughly enjoyed family gatherings, especially with lots of good food, going to the beach, cruise-ins, western shows on TV, old cars, scrolling through Facebook of all the friends he had, and hanging out at 89 Speed shop with his besties. Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Wilma Wright McCraw; sons, Chris (Becky) McCraw, Dale and Kristina McCraw, and Richie (Shelly) McCraw; daughters, Toni and Van Snow, Kim Beasley, and Christy (William) Rabren; grandchildren, Luke, Kameryn (Dylan), Jesse (Holly), Clint, Alex (Charlie), Ginny, Madison, Austin, Cooper, Elijah, Amber and Aaron; great grandchildren, Ellie, Carter, Arabella, Kaelynn, and one on the way; sister, Nancy Harmon; brother, Fred McCraw; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. McCraw was preceded in death by a grandson, Robert “Brandon” Snow; an infant brother, Gene Edward McCraw; and a nephew, Freddie McCraw. Funeral services will be held on Monday February 16, 2026, at New Hope Baptist Church at 2:00pm. Pastor Trent Lyons, Pastor Bill Watson, and special friend he worked with Billy Wright will be the officiants. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors by VFW Memorial Honor Guard, Pilot Mountain Post 9436 and Mt. Airy Post 2019. The family will receive friends on Monday February 16, 2026, from 12:30 – 2:00pm at the church. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
