Larry Darnell McElroy, "Big Mac," 75, of Canton, Ohio, passed away on September 3, 2025. Born July 15, 1950, in Canton to Elizabeth (Howard) and James McElroy Sr., Larry was known for his contagious smile and love of life. A 1969 graduate of McKinley Senior High School, he worked at The Hoover Company and later dedicated 35 years to Timken Steel. He also served as a private limousine driver, driving celebrities such as Usher and Mike Ditka. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings Clara Walker, Terry and Anthony McElroy; brother-in-law Jesse Clark; and nephews Marcus McElroy and Allie "Junior" Walker Jr. He is survived by his loving wife, Paulette (Massey) McElroy of Canton, OH; daughters, Pebala Williams of Canton, OH, and Shahada "Erica" (Mohamed) Ismail of Hudson, OH; and godson, Christian (Julie) Parker of Louisville, KY. He is also survived by his brother, James "Chum" (Anna) McElroy of Altadena, CA; his sister, Linda "Jean" Clark of Canton, OH; brothers-in-law, Allie Walker Sr., Kenneth "Pete" (Patricia) Massey, and Bernard Massey, all of Canton, OH, Randy (Pamela) Massey of Perry, OH, and Daniel Steward of Cleveland, OH; sisters-in-law, Sarah Fite, Gloria Massey, and Karen Byrd McElroy, all of Canton, OH; uncles, Curtis (Diane) McElroy of Kent, OH, Enoch "Boo Boo" (Sonja) Howard of Columbus, OH, and William "Billboy" (Nadine) Massey of Canton, OH; aunts, Deidre Hughes of Columbus, OH, Donna "Tiny" Massey of Canton, OH, and Pearla Mae McClendon of Massillon, OH.; 12 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and many beloved relatives and friends. A Homegoing Celebration will be held Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at Waltner-Simchak Funeral Home, with viewing at 10:00 a.m. and service at 11:00 a.m.
