Larry Dean Mealy

Larry Dean Mealy, age 80, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 8, 2025 at his home.
He was born on September 17, 1944 to the late Walter "Deck" Mealy and the late Gladys (Cepicky) Mealy.
Larry was united in marriage to Mary (Adams) Mealy on August 20, 1966, who preceded him in death on May 28, 2007. They were married for forty-one wonderful years. Mary brought so much joy to his life and after her passing, he missed her dearly every day.
After graduating from South Callaway High School, Larry joined the United States Army. After his time in the service, he spent forty years of employment with Westlakes Hardware and was known for assisting customers and greeting them with a smile and possibly a joke. Larry possessed a work ethic to be admired by all until his retirement, at which time he discovered his love for leisurely activities of boating and jeeping, leaving behind an unmeasurable number of friends. Racing was always a big part of Larry's life. He made many memories racing go-karts with his sons and grandson. Racing soon shifted to dirt track racing where he met and created many friends in the racing community. His passion for racing has carried over to his family, who continue to be involved in the sport of racing.
Larry will be lovingly remembered by his sons, Doug Mealy (Becky), Chuck Mealy (Candice Donoho); daughter, Sandy Bommel (Tommy); brothers, Ron Mealy (Carlie), Rick Mealy (Kathy); sister, Janis Stieferman (Walt), Sherlene Horstman, Joyce Wilson (Steve); sisters- in- law, Joyce Mealy, JoAnn Mealy; grandson, Ethan Burke (Antoinette); granddaughters, Chelsea Harrison (Ryan), Olivia Mealy; great grandchildren, Sawyer Harrison, and Malcom Burke.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; brothers, Kenny Mealy, Bobby Mealy; and brother-in-law, Clyde Horstman.
A private family graveside service will be held at Steedman Cemetery.
Celebration of Life will be held at Fulton VFW Post 2657, Thursday April 17, 2025 from 3:00pm to 7:00pm.
