Larry Morast Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Price Funeral Home, Inc. - Maryville on Jan. 28, 2024.
Larry A. Morast, 83, Maryville, passed away on January 25, 2024, at Maryville Living Center.
Larry was born on November 15, 1940, to Eathen A. Morast, Jr, and Martha (Simmons) Morast. He was a 1959 graduate of North Kansas City High School.
After high school, Larry enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, where he was an aircraft mechanic serving throughout Asia, and as a crew chief aboard C-123 aircraft when he completed two tours in the Republic of Vietnam. He left the Air Force in 1963.
Soon after, Larry worked at Kenworth and lived in Excelsior Springs, Missouri. It was there that he met Helen Owens, who was a kindergarten teacher living in the same apartment building. They were united in marriage on April 8, 1966.
Larry and Helen later moved to Maryville. Although he had a few jobs over the years, he was most known for being a long-time employee of the Maryville R-II School District maintenance staff. Rejoining the Missouri Air National Guard in 1983, he was a Technical Sergeant for the 139th Security Forces Squadron at Rosecran's until retiring in 2000.
When not working, Larry enjoyed spending time with family, visiting with friends and neighbors, travelling, trips to the New Dinner Theater, restoring his Packard and Ramblers, and sitting on his front porch enjoying the country.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and his nephews, J.R. Morast and Mike Cheek.
He is survived by his two daughters Carol Morast, Overland Park, Kansas, and Karen (Michael) Harrison, Prairie Village, Kansas, his sister Plesie Hurst, Cameron, Missouri, and his two brothers, Jack Morast, The Villages, Florida, and Hank Morast, Grand Island, Nebraska, and his two grandsons Andrew and Will Harrison, Prairie Village, Kansas, along with many nieces and nephews.
Services 11am Saturday, February 3rd at Price Funeral Home. Burial Miriam Cemetery in Maryville. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services.
The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to The Alzheimer's Association or Mosaic Hospice.
