Robert Morast Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Best Funeral Services Phoenix on Jul. 28, 2025.
Robert J. Morast, formerly of Minneapolis, MN, and Beaverton, OR, passed away peacefully at home in Phoenix, AZ, on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, after living with dementia.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Joan Morast, and his parents, Ferne and George. He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Lisa; daughter Hilary (Ted) of Rochester, MN; son John (Lisa) of Orono, MN; granddaughters Lauren (Chase) and Kaitlyn (Ricky); grandson Evan (Alysia); and great-grandsons Jack, Graham, and Whit.

He is also survived by stepchildren Sarah (Ninos), sons A.J. and Lance; Zac (Rebecca), children Ava, Isaiah, Colette, and Declan; his brother Ric; nieces and nephews; and his beloved boxer Sophie.

Bob was born in Minneapolis on June 30, 1943, and attended Southwest High School, the University of Minnesota, and Georgia Tech.

A civil/traffic engineer by profession, Bob was also an avid bicyclist. For nearly 20 years, he rode the Jim Klobuchar "Jaunt with Jim" across Minnesota with family and friends-a tradition that brought him much joy. Bob never met a stranger. No matter where he lived, he greeted people with warmth, humor, and a good story, and made lifelong connections and cherished friendships along the way.

In recent years, Bob enjoyed weekly visits to Optum Care, where he had a wide circle of friends and looked forward to drumming and art classes, workout sessions, and other activities.

The family is deeply grateful to their extended family and close friends; caregivers Daisy and Marcos; and the compassionate hospice nurses and staff from Hospice of the Valley in Arizona, who provided end-of-life care, comfort, and peace to Bob.

Donations in Bob's memory may be made to Hospice of the Valley in Arizona or the Alzheimer's Association.

There will be two celebrations of life: one in Arizona on August 9 and one in Minnesota on

September 13.
