Larry Kent "Fred" Morton, 63, of
Wilmington, NC, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on February 16, 2024, after losing a courageous battle to cancer. Larry, also lovingly known as "Fred" to many close friends and family, was born in
Kinston, NC on January 20, 1961, to the late Roderick and Zola Morton. He was one of four children and is survived by brothers, Donald Morton (wife, Kay) and David Morton (wife, Teresa), and a sister, Janice Morton. Larry is also survived by two daughters, Stacy Morton, and Haley Morton, as well as a granddaughter who became the apple of his eye, Miss Laiken Horne. He is also survived by many nieces, and one nephew, and many great nieces and nephews. He was a devoting and loving father to his "big bit" and "little bit". You could find him teaching Stacy at a young age how to mow grass, play basketball, and of course drive her mustang! With Haley, you could find him teaching her softball, taking her on motorcycle rides and buying her first motorcycle at age 13! He also loved races and took them to many years worth!
Later in life, Fred found his Sunshine on a cloudy day and fell in love with the absolute love of his life, Sandy "Sunshine" Buck of
Wilmington, NC. Fred and Sunshine spent countless hours always hosting a slew of parties, get togethers, and no one ever went hungry on Thanksgiving. There was always an extra seat at their table in Bucktown. They traveled all around the United States together mostly on Fred's other true love, his Harley Davidson motorcycle. From the West Coast to
Sturgis, South Dakota, to the Florida panhandle and back to the East Coast to catch a Kid Rock concert, it was always an adventure for the two of them to make countless memories. Life on two wheels led Fred to a lifestyle behind bars and was a patriarch member of Behind Bars Lifestyle Apparel. Fred is survived by his Sunshine to carry on his legacy and love of riding.
Fred will be remembered for his contagious smile and watchful blue eyes, Don't let the sweetness fool you because Fred had a mischievous side to him as well!! From going "missing" during bike week, proclaiming "I was where I was!" when asked where he had been, to springing up on top of a parked motorcycle seat and dancing the night away!
Fred leaves behind a village of close friends that became family. He Is survived by a very special brother-in-love, Bucky Buck, and wife, Tammy Buck.
Along with gaining the love of his life, Fred also gained the son he never thought he would have, Shane Inman.
