I just learned of Larry's passing through Danny Smith on the Together We Served web site today. Larry was my Drill Instructor from May thru July of 1968, Platoon 191. Larry served with Delta Company 7th Marine Infantry Regiment, I also served the 7th Marines but at a later date. I came into contact with Larry in 2008 through Danny Smith. I had a deep
respect for him and would have followed him anywhere.
REST IN PEACE Larry....a True Warrior and friend.

I have already posted about Larry a couple of days ago but would like to add we both served with Mike 3/9 in Okinawa, 1971-72, don't remember if he remembered me but when I told him he was my DI he said we were the worst platoon he ever put through, we both had a good laugh, he was a damn fine Marine

1st Sgt. Larry NAPIER & I served together on the I&I Staff, Military Police Company, USMC Reserve in Lexington, Ky. Larry was a Drill Instructor at MCRD San Diego, Ca. when I was going thru boot camp, although he was not my D.I. Years later he was my 1st Sgt. He taught me a lot, just as we taught the Marines in our reserve unit. Larry led by example and he led from the front. I'm proud to have known him and to have served with him. After we retired, I visited with him and Lisa at their home and before I headed back Arizona Larry gave me a Challenge Coin of Delta Company 1st Bn. 7th Marines, the unit that he served with in Vietnam. The Coin sits on my top shelf, just as my memory of The Marine that gave it to me. We will meet again on "The High Ground" Semper Fidelis. Dan. T. SMITH MSgt. USMC Ret.
