Larry Nemenz, age 76, of Erie, quietly passed away at home on Wednesday, April 17th, 2024, comfortably snoozing in his recliner.

He was born in Erie on May 21, 1947 a son of the late Walter and Gert Puscher Nemenz.

Larry attended East High School and graduated in 1966. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1966 to 1970. He worked at Lord Corporation in manufacturing for 42 years. At Lord’s, he participated in the football league and its Shop Rats softball team and literally had a ball coaching the women’s softball team. He continued his friendships after retirement at a regular Lord Buddy Breakfast. Larry was a die hard Steelers and Pirates fan which led to many limburger sandwich bets with Lori’s father. You could always find him enjoying a cold libation; tapping his foot and playing “air guitar”, or dancing, as he listened and sang to the sounds of his 50’s and 60’s favorites, Country, Motown, Etc. He was a fun loving person with a zest for the simple things in life and good times. He loved his family and friends unconditionally.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Nemenz; father-in-law, Donald Swanson; son-in-law, Jeff Matteo and a niece, Lindsay Nemenz.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Lori Swanson Nemenz; two brothers, Chuck Nemenz (Shirley) and Gary Nemenz (Rita); his daughter, Carla Matteo; two grandsons, Dominic and Anthony Matteo; mother-in-law, Jeanette Swanson and brother in laws, Jon (Connie) Swanson and Jim Swanson. He is further survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, dear friends, and furry family.

Friends may call at the Burton Quinn-Scott Funeral Home, West Ridge, 3801 West 26th St., Erie on Tuesday, April 23rd from noon until the time of blessing service at 3 pm. A celebration of life will be held immediately following.
