Larry Phuong Nguyen, 88, passed away peacefully at home on August 7, 2025. Born on August 7, 1937, in Vinh Long, Vietnam, Larry led a life marked by dedication, resilience, and quiet strength. Before immigrating to the United States, he served as a Captain in the South Vietnamese Army and worked as a Math and English teacher-roles that reflected both his leadership and his commitment to education. After settling with his family in Connecticut, Larry embarked on a long and steady career as a collateral specialist at Fleet Bank. His professional life was characterized by diligence and integrity. Upon retiring in 2004, Larry enjoyed tending to his garden and taking long walks about town. In 2017, he and his beloved wife Rose Hoa Tiet retired to Florida to enjoy their later years together. Larry is survived by Rose, his devoted wife; his daughters Khanh Severino and Tam LaFleur; sons-in-law Jeff Severino and Michael LaFleur; and granddaughters Stefania Severino, Isabel LaFleur, and Elizabeth LaFleur. He also leaves behind brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews across the United States, Germany, and Vietnam. He was predeceased by his parents and daughter Uyen. Known for his signature sweater vests, warm smile, and gentle demeanor, Larry left a lasting impression on all who knew him. His presence brought comfort and calm to those around him. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Larry's memory to Disabled American Veterans (https://www.dav.org/ways-to-give/) or the Wounded Warrior Project (https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org (https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org/)). May his memory bring peace to those who loved him.
