Larry Padgett, age 68 of Richland, died on November 12, 2024. He was born April 2, 1956, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the son of Charles and Joy (Psalmonds) Padgett. Larry was a 1975 graduate of Comstock High School where he was All-State All-Star in football and held a record pin in Wrestling. He attended Kalamazoo Valley Community College. For 41 years, he was an assistant beater engineer with Graphic Packaging. On June 7, 1980, Larry married Deann Wuis. They enjoyed a wonderful 44 years together surrounded by their many rescued animals throughout their marriage. Larry and Deann enjoyed traveling together, camping, fishing, and hunting. They even enjoyed a trip to Alaska with his parents. Many friends will remember him visiting Deann while she was working her shifts at Richland Pub. Larry was a generous man who was always willing to give and support his co-workers, friends, and family. The friendships he made in high school lasted a lifetime as he continued to nurture those relationships throughout his life.
His family includes his wife Deann (Wuis) Padgett; his brother, Chet Padgett (Susan Schoder); his sister, Laurie (William) Babbitt; his sister-in-law, Mondae Dedrick; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister-in-law Sue Wuis.
Friends may visit with his family on Sunday, November 17th from 2:00-5:00 PM, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Location, 622 S. Burdick Street, Kalamazoo, where his funeral service will be held on Monday, November 18th at 12:00 PM, with an hour to gather prior. Interment will follow the service at Maple Grove Cemetery Comstock. Friends and family are invited to gather after the gravesite service at the Comstock Fire Station 9-1, 1960 River St. Kalamazoo, MI 49048 for a small luncheon to celebrate Larry’s life.
Donations in memory of Larry may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
