Larry Pate Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Moore-Rose Funeral Home of Idalou on Nov. 28, 2025.
Idalou - Larry Pate, age 73, of Idalou, passed away on November 26, 2025 at his home in Idalou. Memorial services will be held at 1:30PM, Saturday, December 6, 2025 at the First Baptist Church of Idalou. Arrangements under the care of the Moore-Rose Funeral Home of Idalou.

Larry Gene Pate born August 20, 1952. Born in Lubbock, Texas to Eugene & Frances Pate of Idalou, Texas. Larry attended Idalou Schools. He married Cynthia Samples in 1972. Larry was an avid outdoorsman. For most of his adult life, he was a trapper, and also owned Texas Prairie Dog Safari's. One of his many passions was teaching long range shooting to clients across the country. He loved to make new friends and never met a stranger. Larry was one of the easiest people to become close to. He was kind, generous, loving, and loved to share his knowledge, while expanding his own. One of his favorite areas in the world was Ruidoso, New Mexico. He once said Ruidoso is where his spirit belonged and felt closer to nature, and God. Larry loved to laugh, and to make others laugh. He was the type that could tell you jokes non stop, and laugh even harder than the person he was telling them to. He found inspiration through Gods word, which helped him through the many challenges that his health had brought him. He found peace, tranquility, and strength through the word of God.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Cynthia Pate of 53 years. (Son) Jason Pate of Idalou, Tx. (Son) Kevin Pate and his spouse Rhet Robert's of Ruidoso, NM. (Brother) Jeff Pate of Idalou, Tx.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and eldest son, Russell Pate.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be donated to The Children's home of Lubbock, and The Texas Boys Ranch of Lubbock.

The Pate family would like to express their gratitude for the outpouring of love and respect for Larry. They would like to thank each and everyone for the thoughts and prayers they have received.
