Larry Proffitt Obituary
Larry was born in Midway, West Virginia on October 8, 1946.
His lifetime love of sports included being named to the Class A All-State Football and Baseball teams in West Virginia his senior year of High School.
He joined the U.S. Air Force and served overseas in Vietnam as a combat jet engine mechanic, followed by a life-long career with Delta Airlines in Kansas City, Missouri and Houston, Texas, before retiring to the Fischer family homestead in Fredericksburg, Texas.
Married to Linda Proffitt for 59 years, Larry is also survived by brother Dan Proffitt and his wife, Barb, of Ridgeley, West Virginia and two sons, Tim and his wife, Crystal and Troy and his wife, Alyson; grandchildren, Charley, Sam and Olivia, of Houston, Texas, and many nieces and nephews.
The Celebration of Life service was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at Fredericksburg Bible Church, 107 E. Austin St., Fredericksburg, Texas, followed by a graveside military service at Greenwood Cemetery, 1665 N. Llano St., Fredericksburg, Texas.
Friends and family gathered at a reception immediately following at the Fischer family homestead, 3084 N. State Hwy 16, Fredericksburg, Texas.

I remember Larry well growing up, especially after his family moved to Midway. Larry was a good guy and a suburb athlete. His Uncle Marvin Proffitt was married to my mother's sister, Macie Proffitt.
