Larry Michael Ring, age 85, of Westfield, IL went home to be with his Heavenly Father at 6:38 a.m. on Thursday, July 18, 2024 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 6, 1939 in Casey, IL the son of Luther Michael Ring and Nora Belle Hires Ring. Larry was the youngest of eight siblings and the first baby born in Clark County in 1939.
On July 15, 1962 he married the love of his life Roberta Ann "Bobbi" Barbee in Westfield, IL. They shared 62 years of happiness before Larry passed away. Survivors include his wife Roberta "Bobbi" Ring of Westfield, IL; children, Jon Ring (Kimberly) of Crystal Lake, IL; Daniel Ring (Georgeanna) of Westfield, IL; Jeremy Ring of Westfield, IL and Amanda Duke (Brock) of Westfield, IL; grandchildren, Zachary Daniel Ring, Serena Leanne Ring, Jeanna Marie Ring, Morgan Danielle Ring, Sierra June Ring, Jesika Maxine Ring, Dominik Gabrielle Duke; many nephews and nieces, his church family and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Cassandra Ann Ring and siblings, Lester, Minta, Harvey, Myrtle, Jack, Juanita and Crystal Maureen.
Larry was a 1958 graduate of Casey High School. He served his country as a medic in the US Army from 1962 – 1964. Larry was retired for 30 years after working for 30 years at American Airlines at O'Hare International Airport in Chicago, IL; a job he truly loved. He was a Master Mason; a member of Masonic Lodge #442 and Order of the Eastern Star #79. Larry was a faithful member and deacon of Westfield Baptist Church. At age 58 he received Christ as his Saviour.
In his retirement he enjoyed birds, fishing, gardening, bowling, shuffle board and playing on his computer and phone. Larry enjoyed spending time in the kitchen cooking and especially loved sharing his one of a kind rice pudding. Larry and Bobbi loved traveling and were always looking forward to winters in Florida as snowbirds. They enjoyed dining out and riding around on their golf cart. They cherished any time they could spend with their children and grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at Westfield Baptist Church with Pastor Scott Sims officiating. Burial will follow in Casey Cumberland Cemetery, Casey, IL with graveside military rites by Casey VFW and Martinsville American Legion. Visitation will be held from 4 – 7 p.m. on Monday evening at Westfield Baptist Church, 110 S. Fulton St., Westfield, IL.
