Obituary for Larry Rohs
Larry Rohs, adoring husband to Cathy and loving father of sons, Rob and Brian.
After a seven-month long struggle with brain cancer, Larry passed away peacefully on April 22, 2023, at the age of 72 years. In addition to Cathy, Rob (Melissa McKenny) Rohs and Brian Rohs, part of Larry's legacy is embodied in his five beautiful grandchildren; Benn, Alex, Matthew, Lauren, and Kate.
Larry was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on May 15, 1950, son of Beryle and Erna Rohs. He served in the Wisconsin National Guard for more than six years, and in 1974 earned his bachelor's degrees in Accounting and Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. His first job out of college was with the accounting firm Alexander Grant & Co., and Larry eventually went on to work many positions over 17 years at the Kohler Company, moving his family to the Village of Kohler, Wisconsin. Larry earned distinction as the youngest vice president in Kohler history, and also spent time in Pleasanton, California, as president of two Kohler acquisitions he helped broker, Kallista and Ann Sacks Tile and Stone.
The pending birth of his first grandson brought Larry and Cathy to Colorado; building a home and gathering place for his growing family. In 2003, Larry started his own company in Colorado, RPC Manufacturing Solutions, and it was his joy to run this business with his two sons. His sons now run RPC together. The outdoors of Colorado re-awakened Larry's adventuring spirit. He loved hunting and fishing, and was known to ride his BMW motorcycle and ATV, always with his sons, grandchildren or friends in the Colorado mountains. He also loved being near water, and watersports of all kinds especially sailing and fishing. He spoke often of the love for his sailboat "Gallant". He most enjoyed the peace and solitude while sailing from San Francisco to Puerto Vallarta, surrounded by dolphins and whales.
However, mostly we remember Larry's loving spirit. He was the embodiment of kindness, generosity, and always a polite gentleman. His presence will be greatly missed. This popular quote captures the essence of Larry, and pays tribute to his love of adventure and sailing. "Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the things you did do. So, throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, May 5th, at Rundus Funeral Home, located at 1998 W. 10th Ave in Broomfield, CO.
