Mr. Larry B. Rucker was born on October 23, 1952, to the late Mr. Jimmy Lockhart and Mrs. Willie Sue Alexander Rucker Syphore. On January 8, 2026, he transitioned from this earthly life to eternal rest, entering into the presence of our Heavenly Father.
Larry was a proud graduate of Elbert County Comprehensive High School, Class of 1972. During his school years, he developed a strong love for sports and compassion for others. He played football and several other sports and later gave back to his community by coaching and mentoring many children. He spent many years working in the granite industry, where he was highly regarded as a skilled top polisher.
A devoted husband, father, and friend, Larry shared 54 loving years of marriage with his beloved wife, Mary Rucker. Together, they raised three sons and built a legacy that continues through their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Larry and Mary met as high school sweethearts and were inseparable from that point forward. He was a faithful member of Rose Hill Baptist Church, where he served honorably as a deacon.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Rucker; his two brothers, Bennie Rucker and Herman Syphore; and two sisters, Jimmie Rucker and Addie Pearl Rucker.
Larry leaves to cherish his memory his three sons: Derrick (Kachina) Rucker of
Elberton, GA; Tennyson (Lorri) Rucker of Asheville, NC; and Trent (Nashekia) Rucker of Greenville, SC; eleven grandchildren: Sakia Dowd of Rocky Mountain, NC; Deja Rucker of Oakland, CA; Brittany Rucker of Bowersville, GA; Derrick Rucker Jr. of Athens, GA; Tennyson Rucker Jr. of Asheville, NC; Jayla Allen of Commerce, GA; Jaquoria Rucker of Asheville, NC; Trinity Rucker of Clemson, SC; Lanaiya Rucker of Greenville, SC; Derrica Rucker of
Elberton, GA; and Tyas Rucker of Greenville, SC; and seven great-grandchildren: Justin Parker, Julian Dowd, Madilyn Craft, Genesis Heard, Khayir Harper, Khy'ree Israel-Grey Louis, and Saeed Williams.
He is also survived by his siblings: Bobbie Sue McIntosh; Ann (John) Plummer; Sarah (Clark) Sims; Shirley Clark; Luther (Tommie) Rucker; James Syphore; Earnest (Judy) Rucker; Ruby (Joe) Marshall; and Nancy Willis, along with his in-laws Jeralene (Rev. Stanley) Rucker, the late Lewis Bradford, Shirley (Rev. Mac) Hughes, the late Carolyn (Walter) Hubbard, Tabitha (Rev. Jaamal) Rambert, and Spencer Bradford; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Larry's life was marked by love, service, and dedication, and his legacy will continue to live on through all who were blessed to know him.
Public viewing will be held on Monday, January 12, 2026, from 1:00 - 5:00pm, located at Mack's Funeral Home - Elberton Chapel.
Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at 2:00pm, located at Rose Hill Baptist Church -
Elberton, Georgia.
Internment service will immediately follow the funeral service located at Rose Hill Baptist Church -
Elberton, Georgia.
