Larry Sinkhorn, 66 of Edinburg, IL passed away August 20, 2024, at home surrounded by his family. He was born in Springfield, IL on April 18th, 1958, to Donald and Florence (Richards) Sinkhorn. He married Sonia Simpson March 18th, 1994, and she survives.
Larry graduated from Mt Auburn High School in 1978. He worked for R&R General Contractors for 22 years before retiring in 2020. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and loved to hunt and fish. He served on Edinburg village board for 12 years. He was a member of the 40 MPH club and enjoyed going to car shows in his 1930 Ford Model A.
He is survived by his wife Sonia. Daughters Annie (Dustin) Sinkhorn of Taylorville and Katie (Jacob) Cockrell of Edinburg. Stepson Mark (Kim) Westenhaver of Bethany, IL. 5 grandsons Justin, Jacob, Blake, and Zachary Westenhaver and Briggs Cockrell. Sisters, Brenda Diedrich of Edinburg, Diane Manion of Rochester, Joyce (Robert) Leady of Decatur, and Terry Sinkhorn of Springfield. Brother Donald (Judy) Sinkhorn of Burkburnett, TX. And several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Rose (Jerry) Luttrell and nephews Jason Sinkhorn and Shane Leady.
The family will receive family and friends at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville, IL from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. Sunday, August 25, 2024. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 26, 2024, at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville, IL. Committal Service will follow in Edinburg Cemetery.
Please dress casually or wear St. Louis Cardinals attire. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society.
