Larry D. Smith, 81, of Hermitage, passed away Saturday evening, January 10, 2026, in UPMC Shenango Valley Hospital, Farrell.
Mr. Smith was born October 10, 1944, in New Castle, a son of Harry and Virginia Mae (Cameron) Smith. He graduated from Mohawk Area High School in 1962.
Larry is a veteran of the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam Era.
He then completed an associate degree in physical therapy at Penn State University, Shenango Valley Campus, becoming a certified Physical Therapy Assistant.
For many years, Larry worked as a PTA at Sharon Regional Hospital, retiring in 2005. During retirement, he managed the Lakewood Apartments in Hermitage.
Larry was a lifetime member of the West Middlesex VFW and always looked forward to playing golf and long rides on his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. He also enjoyed landscaping and spending time with his family.
Larry is survived by a brother, Terry Smith (Linda), Hermitage; two nephews, Jason Smith and Brad Smith (Elizabeth); a niece, Michelle Smith; and four great-nieces, Sophia, Caitlyn, Piper, and Tessa.
In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by two brothers, Harry and Gary Smith.
In keeping with his wishes, there will be no public viewing or funeral service.
