Larry Sossamon Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lowe-Neddo Funeral Home on Oct. 23, 2024.
William Larry Sossamon, 83, of Indian Trail, died on Wednesday, October 16, 2024. Through the blessing of hospice, he was able to be at home surrounded by family.
Larry was born in Union County, NC, on July 29, 1941, the son of Willie and Rachel Tarlton Sossamon. He grew up there and graduated from East Mecklenburg High School. Larry met the beautiful Ms. Dianne Walker and they were married in York, SC in 1969, after two years of dating. He worked for Motor Convoy and Pony Express before finding his calling as a Supervisor for Eaton. He retired from Eaton in 2003.
Larry was an elder of Faith Baptist Church and enjoyed fishing, yard work, and gardening. He also enjoyed walking around Wal-Mart every morning and watching NASCAR races that in his younger years, he attended in person. He also loved drag racing at Shuffletown in Charlotte, NC, where he won numerous trophies. Most of all, Larry loved the time spent with family and friends.
Larry is survived by his wife, Dianne; his sons Tim (wife Tricy) Sossamon of Mt Pleasant, SC, and Roger (wife Mary) Walker of Concord, NC; a grandson Jake (wife Sara) Sossamon of Charleston, SC; and two granddaughters: Emma Sossamon of New York, NY, and Michaela Kosobud of Mt. Pleasant, SC. He is further survived by numerous other relatives, his church family at Faith Baptist Church, and friends. Larry was preceded in death by his parents; his brother and sister-in-law Kenneth (wife Margaret) Sossamon; and a daughter, Kimberly Sossamon.
Larry's family has given the family of Lowe-Neddo Funeral Home the privilege of caring for him and for them. A memorial service will be held at Faith Baptist Church on Saturday, October 26. Receiving of friends will start at 2 pm, with the memorial service following at 3 pm. All services will conclude at the church. Please take a moment to visit Larry's online memorial at www.LoweNeddoFuneralHome.com to share a memory or photo.
