Larry Spears Obituary

Larry Ray Spears, born on July 30, 1960, in the vibrant heart of Fort Worth, Texas, passed away on September 10, 2025. He leaves behind a legacy woven through the laughter and love of a large family and an extensive circle of friends, each of whom will carry a piece of him in their hearts.

From his early years, Larry’s hands were never idle; he found joy in working on cars and delving into the intricacies of computers. A lover of cinema, he could often be found absorbed in a movie, a reflection of the colorful narrative of his remarkable life. His interests not only showcased his diverse talents but also the warmth and curiosity that endeared him to everyone around him.

In a poignant tale of love, Larry married Kay Sharp on November 18, 1982, in Fort Worth. Although their paths as a couple diverged, the bond remained, blossoming into a profound friendship that spanned decades. Together they navigated the complexities of life, raising two sons who continue to reflect their father’s spirit.

Larry is survived by his beloved sons, Ricky and Vickie Spears, and Chris and Heather Spears, who carry his legacy forward, and the emanating love of grandchildren Preslie, Caelie, Matthew, Madison, Logan, Lily, Tucker, and Elaina. Each grandchild embodies a fragment of their grandfather's essence, with aspirations unique to them, yet undeniably shaped by the love of Larry. His cherished role as a great-grandfather to Bishop Whitney marked a new chapter, bringing fresh joy to his life.

Amidst the memories of laughter and love, he is mourned by his sister, Marsha Garner, and her husband Shine Garner, as well as his brother, Micky Spears. Their shared stories, laughter, and occasional tears served to strengthen the bonds of family, providing comfort during life’s inevitable trials. Larry's family includes many nieces and nephews who have been touched by his presence and will cherish his stories for generations to come.

The tapestry of Larry's life is also interwoven with exceptional friendships, notably Simon Gasca, Dr. Edward Baker, and Pastor Bill, who walked alongside him through both sunshine and storms, reflecting the depth of his character and the kind of man he was.

Larry's journey was not without its hardships; he faced loss with the untimely passing of his parents, Ray and Louisa Spears, and siblings, Leona (Jumper) White and Sharon Meador. The enduring sorrow of losing a grandchild, Tanner Spears, and a great-grandchild, Willow Spears-Whitney, left marks on his heart, yet he persevered, embracing the love of those who remained.

As we gather to honor Larry Ray Spears, the visitation will take place on September 19, 2025, beginning at 1:30 PM followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM, at Skyvue Funeral Home, Mansfield, Texas. A graveside service will then follow at Skyvue Memorial Gardens, allowing family and friends to share in remembrance and reflection.

Though Larry has departed from this earth, the echoes of his laughter, the warmth of his love, and the lessons of his life will forever remain in the memories of those who were gifted to know him. His story, marked by deep connections and steadfast friendships, is a testament to a life well-lived. Larry Ray Spears will be profoundly missed, yet his spirit will continue to shine brightly in all those whose lives he touched.
