Larry Stanley Obituary

BAXTER CHAPEL-Larry Marshall Stanley, born on February 9, 1947, in Waverly, Tennessee, passed away on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville, Tennessee at the age of 78. He was a beloved husband, step-father, brother-in-law, and friend whose presence enriched the lives of all who knew him.

Larry graduated from Pearl Cohn High School in Nashville in 1965, marking the beginning of a life dedicated to family, service, and work. He served in the Army during the Vietnam Era, with his deployment in Berlin leaving a lasting impact on his character and perspective. His commitment to service was paralleled by his professional life; he moved to Cookeville in 1992 and became a respected member of the community through his work at Thompson Manufacturing in Algood, Norwalk Furniture Co., and Fix Tur World in Cookeville.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Cynthia "Cindy" Miller Stanley of Baxter. Larry cherished his role as a step-father to his sons, Brad (Melissa) Palk of Cookeville and Corey Palk of Rickman. He also took great pride in being a grandfather to his two grandchildren, Branden Palk and Brenna Palk. Larry's loving spirit extended to his extended family, including his sisters-in-law, Debbie (Mike) Hunter of Franklin, TN, Connie (Bob) Nelson of Cookeville, Vickie Poston of Rickman, and Julie (David) Prichard of Rickman, as well as his brother-in-law, James Starnes of McMinnville. He will be fondly remembered by his nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who adored him.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Marshall and Jewell Dodson Stanley, along with his brother-in-law, Don Poston, and sister-in-law, Susan Starnes. While he has departed from this world, the love and memories he shared will remain alive in the hearts of those who knew him. Larry's life was marked by kindness, strength, and a steadfast dedication to his family and community, leaving an indelible legacy that will never be forgotten.

A private family service will be held at a later date.
