Larry Stewart Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hutton & McElwain Funeral Home - Macon on Dec. 24, 2025.
Larry Francis Stewart, age 78, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2025 after a long battle with diabetes and congestive heart failure at the Macon Health Care Center in Macon, MO.
Larry was born January 12, 1947 in Macon, MO, the son of Ellwood and Frances (Freeman) Stewart. He joined a sister Glenna Lavonne who survives.
Larry grew up on the family farm in Maud, MO and started farming at a very young age. He attended Clarence High School and graduated in 1965. Shortly after graduating, he found his sweetheart, Deborah Jo West and they were united in marriage on May 12, 1968. Together they spent 57 years of unconditional love and commitment to each other.
Larry proudly worked his farm, raising hogs and cattle and plowing the fields. He also worked 3rd shift maintenance for Orschlen's in Moberly, MO and later at ConAgra in Macon, MO. While working, he made numerous close friends, who he considered his family. Due to his heart and diabetes, he retired in 2002.
Larry was a member of the Maud Christian Church until its closing. He and Deborah then joined the Oak Ridge Baptist Church of Lentner, MO.
Larry was set in his ways, but a true friend to all. He never knew a stranger and was always up for a simple conversation. He was a devoted husband who doted on his wife and a proud grandfather.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, playing pool, and attending tractor pulls. He especially loved watching his children and grandchildren in their sports and activities. Most of all, he loving being with his family and giving advice to those he loved.
Larry is survived by his wife, Deborah, of Clarence, MO; two daughters, Denise Sowerby (Jimmy) of Napoleon, MO and Deandra Pantaleo (Paul) of Clarence, MO; one son, David Stewart; four grandchildren, Bryce and Ross Sowerby and Keaton and Marlie Pantaleo; one sister, Glenna Lavonne Limbaugh (Charles) of Texas; sisters-in-law, Deanna Armstrong and Donna Ross; and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ellwood and Frances Stewart; in-laws, Jim and Nyla West; and brothers-in-law, Larry Armstrong and Mike Ross.
Services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to Neighbors Helping Neighbors or Helping Hand of Clarence.
