Harrelson Funeral and Cremation ServicesLarry Tate, age 69, of Ellenboro, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 24, 2025 at his home.
Larry was born Tuesday, December 13, 1955 in Cleveland County to the late Luther R. Tate and Ethel Padgett Tate. He was a graduate of East Rutherford High School, class of 1974 and earned an associate’s degree from Cleveland Community College. Larry worked as a supervisor for Drexel-Heritage Furniture for twenty-five years and a HVAC Technician for Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools for thirteen years. He was a longtime and faithful member of Campfield Memorial Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, a trustee and the department secretary of the Sunday school. He lived out his faith by helping anyone, with anything, at any time. He exemplified what it means to be a servant of the Lord by serving others. Larry enjoyed riding his Harley, bowling, playing corn hole and was a talented softball player. He was known for his ability to fix anything and it was always done right.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Leonard Tate.
Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife of forty-seven years, Rita Harris Tate; son, Steven Thomas Tate of Ellenboro; nephews Michael Tate (Jennifer) and their daughter, Anna; Phil Tate (Leeann) and their daughters, Daisy, Lucy and Bonnie.
The funeral service will be conducted at 4:00 pm on Thursday, August 28th at Campfield Memorial Baptist Church with Reverend Nick King and Reverend Mike Gettys officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the church.
Memorial donations are requested to the Campfield Baptist Church Building Fund, 369 Campfield Church Road, Ellenboro, NC 28040.
