Larry Stephen Towslee passed away May 4, 2025, at home with family.
Larry was born May 29, 1947, in Cloquet, MN to Gerald and Helen Towslee. Larry enlisted in the Army to serve in the Vietnam War and served from 1967-1971. Larry was very proud of his service. He returned home from his service a Buddhist and a good hippie. Upon his return he met his beloved wife of 52-years, Karin, and they began to build their home and legacy at the family homestead.
Larry and Karin enjoyed their rides through Jay Cooke State Park on their motorcycle. Larry worked at the D&E Railroad and then at Potlatch where he retired in 2002. He created a lot of long-lasting friendships during his years at Potlatch and enjoyed sharing stories of those times. Larry enjoyed working on his home/land and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was an amazing storyteller and always had one to share with you. Larry was a kind, wise, compassionate man that was always willing to help, teach or mentor anyone. He loved to cook and bake, with his specialties being enchiladas and home-made bread. Larry enjoyed spending time with, talking with and helping other veterans.
Larry was preceded in death by beloved wife of 52-years Karin Towslee; his parents, Gerald and Helen Towslee; father-in-law, Donald Reed; brothers-in-law, Peter and David Reed; nieces, Michele Eggen and Jenny Kisrow; and great-nephew, Nicholas Donald Hayward.
Larry is survived by his 3 children; Nathan (Anne) Towslee, Bethany Towslee, Ruth (Brian) Ostoff; grandchildren, Willow Towslee, Devan Towslee, Deklin Towslee, Conan Towslee and Hannah Fredsted; brother-in-law, Terrence (Ginny) Reed; niece, Laurie Hayward and her family and Mary Eggen and her family; nephew, Terrance Reed II and his family; cousins, Bruce Hyland and Wally Hackensmith, along with many friends and "adoptive" sons, daughters and grandchildren.
Upon passing Larry was still a good hippie. He will be missed by many.
In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in his name to the Cloquet Combined Honor Guard (Capt. Steve Birkemeyer 1515 Ave C, Cloquet, MN).
Please join us May 18th, 2025, from 11am-3pm for a remembrance gathering with a short memorial at 2pm. It will be held at the family homestead at 1386 Jay West Rd Carlton, MN (We recommend to bring a lawnchair).
