Larry Eugene Ulland, age 70, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, December 29, 2024, at his home in Austin.
Larry was born on March 23, 1954, to Ellsworth and Eileen (Jolson) Ulland in Austin, Minnesota. Larry was a graduate of Blooming Prairie High School and then Minnesota State University, Mankato. After graduation, he spent his career in sales with John Deere.
Larry was an active member of the Elks and held many positions of leadership. Most important to him was his family. He was devoted to his daughters and grandchildren. He was a beloved brother and uncle. In his treatment of cancer, he was an inspiration, staying positive and telling his family and friends, “I choose happy.”
Survivors include his daughters, Natalie (Ivan) Rodriguez and Jenny Retterath; grandchildren Alex (Bree), Erica, Ivan, Kevin, Dariell, Drayke, and Casiedy; great-granddaughter, Adelaine; brothers and sisters, Dean (Harriet) Ulland, Diane Mueller, Gary (Marilyn) Ulland, Marcia (Bob) Thurnau, Kathleen (Gregg) Ulland-Klinkner, Mary (Brian) Janning; eighteen nieces and nephews and their families; other relatives and friends. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Ellsworth and Eileen Ulland; niece, Amy Mueller Wilde; brother-in-law, Henry Mueller.
A graveside service will be held in Summer 2025. Worlein-Hoff Funeral Homes of Austin assisted the family with arrangements.
