Sharon K. Ulland, age 84, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away on Monday, August 5, 2024, at St. Mark’s Living in Austin. Sharon Kay Winjum was born on August 14, 1939, in Albert Lea, Minnesota, to Arthur and Beatrice (Bell) Winjum. She graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1957. On June 16, 1957, Sharon was united in marriage to Bruce Marvin Ulland at Central Freeborn Lutheran Church in rural Albert Lea. Together they had a house building and remodeling business for nearly 50 years. Sharon enjoyed antiquing, flea markets, and auctions. She displayed and sold antiques in Albert Lea. She also collected “Autumn Leaf” china and teapots in all shapes and sizes and enjoyed refinishing and restoring furniture. Sharon was a wonderful cook, so much so that she inspired her son Randy to become a chef. She enjoyed trying challenging recipes and serving her family well balanced meals. She was famous for her holiday Yule log that she made every year. Sharon was passionate about her garden and proudly grew a variety of fruits, vegetables, and flowers. She also made time to collect and read books of poems and play the organ. Most of all, Sharon loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Sharon is survived by her sons, Randy (Joy Frevel) Ulland of Newport, and Tim Ulland of Austin; daughter, Grace (Wade) Johnson of Spring Valley; grandchildren, Andrew (Stephanie) Ulland of Austin, Sydney (Sam) von Wald of St. Charles, Sophia (Jacob Vang) Johnson of Maple Grove, and Elise (Chris Peterson) Frevel of Daytona Beach, Florida; great-grandchildren, Kaelyn and Julia Peterson, and Claire and Isabelle Noyes; brother, Tom Winjum of Albert Lea; and sister, Elaine (Ray) King of Albert Lea. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Beatrice; husband, Bruce; brothers, Arthur “Bud” Winjum, and Teddy Winjum; and sister-in-law, Cela Winjum.
The funeral service for Sharon will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at Worlein-Hoff Funeral Home in Austin. The visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Rose Creek Enterprise Cemetery, rural Austin. Memorials are preferred to the American Diabetes Association. Services are prearranged and performed by Worlein-Hoff Funeral Homes.
