Larry Dale Wade died on November 22, 2024. He was born on June 9, 1950 in Fort Payne, Alabama and graduated from Gaston High School in 1968. Upon graduating high school, he joined the United States Navy and served 7 years, 4 of those years active duty aboard the Destroyer, the USS Tattnall, as a machinist mate during the Vietnam War. He earned an Associate Degree in Fire Science and had many titles over the years where he worked as a firefighter, city inspector, and EMT retiring with over 28 years experience in the field at Gadsden Fire Department.
He loved coaching & doing all he could do to help out at Gaston School.
On December 26, 1970, he married the love of his life, Jackie White Wade and together they had 3 wonderful sons. Dale was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved the outdoors. Nothing made him happier than to hunt in Esom Hills, float Terrapin Creek, or enjoy a deep sea fishing trip in Panama City Beach, Florida. He loved his country, animals of all kinds, and to work with his hands whittling or working on engines. He loved teaching us the names of trees, birds & fish. He had special things that he enjoyed doing with each of his three sons and he always said he hit the jackpot with his daughter in loves.
He was preceded in death by his late father Max Wade, his mother, Virginia Wade, his brother, Hugh Don Wade, Grandparents Claude(Lema Lilly), Mae Christopher Wade, and Lot(Buelah) Maxwell.
He leaves behind his wife of soon to be 54 years, Jackie White Wade, their 3 sons, Shane(Trina) Wade, Jody Wade, Max(Courtney) Wade as well as 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild to include: Tyler(Lynda) Wade, Tanner Wade(Hannah Adams), Lakeland Wade, Ridge Wade, Adeline Wade, Everett Wade, Demi Wade, Emersyn Wade and Ellis Wade. He also leaves behind his sister, Deborah (Tim) Harris, his Aunts, Betty Jo Dake, Marie Maxwell, Diane Maxwell, and Barbara Maxwell and a host of very special niece's, nephews, and cousins.
A special thanks to Riverview Regional, Noland Hospital, Encompass Health and Rehabilitation Hospital, McGuffey's Healthcare, Enhabit Home Health and Hospice and so many more. So many thanks to all our family, especially David and Melinda White, his(our) steadfast best friends, Martha Lincoln, Ronnie Douglas, KC & Shirley Turner and Randall & Sabrina Fells & so many more who have always been here for me.
