Larry Bryant Walker, 86, of Asheboro, passed away Sunday, July 6, 2025.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 11, 2025, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Jerry Johnson and Mr. Charles Reeder officiating. Burial will follow at New Union United Methodist Church Cemetery.
A native of Asheboro, Larry was born on March 28, 1939 to parents, Billy Bryant Walker and Christine Ashworth Walker. Larry was a beloved father, grandfather and friend. He graduated from Farmer High School in 1957. He continued his education in Nashville, TN, at a diesel mechanic school as a journeyman. In his career he worked at Associate Transport, Pilot Freight and with the North Carolina State DOT in Asheboro. He became an entrepreneur and self employed cattle and goat farmer, buying, selling and trading. Some of his greatest pleasures in life were going to auction sales, livestock sales, meeting new friends and talking to old friends. His greatest joys in life were farming, making hay, traveling, spending time with family and grandchildren telling family stories.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Billy and Christine Walker; son, Mickey L. Walker; and step daughter, Beth Cromer Jarrell.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years Patricia Frye Walker; daughters, Christina Walker Garrison and husband Neil, Julie Walker Overton; son, Johnny E. Walker; stepson, Christopher D. Cromer; grandchildren, Carrie Overton, Amelia Garrison, Kaytlin Overton and Karlie Overton.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m., Friday, at Ridge Funeral Home prior to the service.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to his caregivers, Gail, Amy, Tamara, Terri and Betty.
Memorials may be made to New Union United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 1293 United Church Road, Asheboro, NC 27205.
