Larry Wilson

Larry Wilson, of Tooele, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on September 25, 2025, at the age of 86. He was born October 18, 1938, in Payson, Utah, to Thomas Michael and Ellen Grace Wilson.

Larry proudly served in the U.S. Army and later worked for many years as a quality control inspector at the Tooele Army Depot, a career he truly loved. He was a lifelong member of the Tooele Gem and Mineral Society and spent summers exploring the West with his family in search of rocks and gems. He crafted many beautiful pieces of jewelry, including belt buckles and bolo ties, setting cabochons he had fashioned from rocks he collected along the way. He also enjoyed metal detecting, hunting with family each October, painting and drawing, and was an avid reader, always having a book or magazine in his hand. Even after losing his sight, he continued to enjoy a good audiobook. Known as the family handyman and tinkerer, he could fix just about anything. Above all, he deeply loved his family and was proud of each of his children.

Larry is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Karen; children Thomas (Tommy), Michael, Gary (Ashley), and Stacy; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; sister Sharon Smauldon; sister-in-law Ramona; one niece and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughters Karen Watson and Kristy Thurnwald; and brother Kenneth.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Carolyn Forbes for her many years of devoted care, hospice nurse Katie for her compassion and care, and CNA Brady for his kindness and assistance.

"Dad, you said, 'Call Stacy, she'll get me home.' Dad, I got you home. I love you so much and I will miss you. I'm glad that even after all these years we could still make each other laugh. And I'm going to tell everyone you called me 'Super Woman,' mom and I did our best to care for you. Thank you for everything; rest now until we see you again. Love, your Stacy girl."

A visitation will be held on Friday, October 3, 2025, at Tate Mortuary, 110 South Main Street, Tooele, Utah, from 11:30-12:45 p.m., followed by a graveside service at 1:00 p.m., at the Tooele City Cemetery, 361 South 100 East, Tooele, Utah.
