Larry Lee Winans, 76, of Battle Creek passed away Friday, January 23, 2026.
Larry was born May 19, 1949 in Hastings to Marshall and Grace (Main) Winans. He was united in marriage to Gwendolyn Kay Spencer on July 12, 1969. Larry served his country honorably in the Army. He went on to work at Pasco Beverage for fifteen years as a maintenance tech in Dade City, FL. He and Gwendolyn lived in Florida for 22 years before moving back to Michigan. He then worked for Meals on Wheels until he retired. He loved listening to local bands. He was a jack of all trades and liked working on cars and houses.
Larry is survived by his children, Teresa Winans (Jay) Kelley, Tamerah (Greg) Metzger, James (Vicky) Slagel, Bill (Tammy) Harrison; sisters, Susie Cooley and Patty Cooley; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Gwendolyn Winans; parents, Marshall and Grace Winans; daughter, Candy Fisher; grandson, Michael Fisher Jr.; brothers, Michael, Donnie and Frank and sisters, Shirley, Hank, Gladys and Ruthann.
A memorial service to celebrate Larry’s life will be held Friday, January 30 at 1:00 p.m. at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Cremation Preneed Care. Interment with full military honors will follow at Fort Custer National Cemetery.
